Thank you for being here for me
Throughout my life, the highs and lows
My eyes are open, now I see
Your love’s a subtle stream that flows
Throughout my life, the highs and lows
Watching and waiting over me
Your love’s a subtle stream that flows
Soothing, yet moving, my debris
Watching and waiting over me
I know just how lucky I am
Soothing, yet moving, my debris
You open the emotional dam
I know just how lucky I am
As the floodgates reveal the pain
You open the emotional dam
Helping me to cope yet again
As the floodgates reveal the pain
A flow of thoughts rush roughly out
Helping me to cope yet again
I will be healed with hope no doubt
A flow of thoughts rush roughly out
My eyes are open, now I see
I will be healed with hope no doubt
Thank you for being here for me
This is a pantoum and inspired by Nellie Wong’s “Grandmother’s Song”. The skill is being able to get the repetition in the required order. A blood cancer diagnosis affects everyone in one’s live, particularly the carers. Mark, has tirelessly re-scheduled his work and his holidays to look after me. He lives with me daily through the uncertainty and the chaos that is now our lives. I’m so grateful for his enduring love and support, growing closer as we have to openly talk, talk more, laugh, cry and carry on. xxx
Flynne’s Barn is a place where young people living with cancer can come together and find connection in beautiful surroundings and provides a range of immersive outdoor and creative experiences. I am sharing one poem per day during September 2022 to raise money for this charity. To DONATE, visit my GO FUND ME page. Many thanks.
Race Against Blood Cancer. Given the lack of diversity on the bone marrow donor registry, this charity focuses on under-represented groups, to improve the odds of all blood cancer patients finding a life-saving donor match.A life saving tissue match depends on finding a donor with a similar ethnicity.
